The Department of Geography Speaker Series presents…
Sustainability, Conservation and
Renewables and the Future of Ontario's
Electricity System
Dr Mark Winfield will discuss the evolution of Ontario's electricity
system from a sustainability perspective and present modeling results
developed for the Pembina Institute/WWF-Canada’s “Renewable is
Doable” project regarding the environmental and economic
performance of potential alternative future scenarios for the system.
These alternative scenarios place greater emphasis on conservation
and low-impact renewable energy sources than the nuclear-focused
proposals currently being advanced by the Government of Ontario.
