What is Harzemli Project
• Harzemli Project is an attempt to standardize all statistical IT processes with
respect to metadata.
• Metadata is used in
 Production
 Analysis and data mining.
 Dissemination
• Harzemli Project especially focuses on production.
• Its main objective is to develop IT applications that automatically creates
data entry applications from metadata.

• Metadata Editor is a tool to create metadata in DDI format.
• Surveys can be designed on this software by defining the structural
and referential metadata.
• Structural metadata consists of datasets, variables and variable groups.
• Document description and study description constitute the referential metadata.

Metadata studies in TURKSTAT
• Sessions were arranged to inform and aware personnel about metadata.
• Metadata workgroup was founded.
• All departments were trained about elementary metadata.
• Data and process standardization activity plan was prepared.

Metadata studies in TURKSTAT
• Household Labour Force Continuous Survey was chosen as pilot study.
• Codelists was defined which will be used in production databases.
• “Variable and Dataset Naming Standards” document was prepared.
• Metadata of 125 study was prepared and presented on intranet of TURKSTAT.

productive way.
• This software will also enable to see the result of design immediately.
• Rule will also be defined on this software more user friendly.
• The vision of Harzemli Project is to transform it to an international software.
