Housing
• All first-time freshmen must live on campus.
o You may apply for an exemption from this rule by
filling out the “First Year Residency Requirement
Exemption Form” available on the Housing webpage.
o Exemptions include:
• Being married.
• Being 21 or older.
• Living with family in Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne,
Etowah, Saint Clair, or Talladega counties.
• Being a military veteran
• A $150 application fee is required to apply for housing.

• A student must maintain a 2.0 throughout his or her
college career to remain in good academic
standing and to graduate from JSU.

Gamecock Email (GEM)
Your JSU Email address is
changing!
• All current JSU students will have two e-mail accounts (Existing
GEM, New GEM).
• Beginning June 1, 2015, new student accounts will only be
created on the new GEM student system.
• The new GEM student email domain will be @stu.jsu.edu. On
June 1, 2015, you should update your address books
accordingly. (ex: student [email protected] should be mailed at
[email protected]).
• Students with existing GEM student accounts will have until
December 31st, 2015 to migrate any existing GEM content to
their new GEM student account and notify others of their
pending address change.
