• SCORE clients started a total of 38,630 new businesses in 2013

• At least 90.1% of SCORE’s “In Business” clients (those already
in business in 2012 were still in business in 2013).

• Established in 1988
• Andy Hayes, Executive Director, Petoskey
Chamber of Commerce
– believed a SCORE chapter would be a helpful
program to the Petoskey Chamber and the
community.
– joined forces with Bill Douglass, a Harbor Springs
Kiwanian
– they put the wheels in motion.

Harbor Springs Kiwanis Club provided the first
10 volunteers to become SCORE mentors.
• Bill Douglass attended Traverse City SCORE
meetings for one year
– Trained the 10 volunteers
Bill served as chapter chair for 10 years
