Are you always being told that
you need to be better organised
or more productive?
Do you often have a day of lots
of activity and then wonder why
you haven’t accomplished a lot at
the end of it?
Pastoral Mentoring
and Study Support
might be able to help…
Put really simply, time management is using
your time as effectively as possible to
achieve the best possible results for
yourself.
No matter how organised we are, remember
that there are always only 24 hours in a
day. Time doesn't change. All you can
actually manage is yourself and what you do
with the time that you have.
What
is it?
For students of GCSE subjects, time
management is absolutely vital because
you have so many things to do if you
are to succeed and get the grades you
should be achieving.
What makes managing your time really
important is that it allows you to get
good marks that you can and have a
good time away from work as well. Time
management doesn’t mean you can’t go out
or have friends, it just means that you
enjoy your time with them even more!
Why
does it
matter?
One way to do it is to sort out your ‘timebandits’ – these are things that take you
away from your work for small periods of
time.
For example, do you spend too much time
surfing on the internet, reading
e-mails, texting or making personal
calls?
Limiting the time you spend on these
things or setting aside some time can help
you here.
How
can I
do it?
There are lots of other ways to deal with
these ‘time-bandits’ – perhaps you might use
the personal records sheet?
Why not break your day from 4pm until
9pm into 15 minute chunks and split your
work and leisure time into small bits?
