Yes & No
Do you believe in the God of the Bible?
Have you stopped drinking whiskey all the time?
Have you stopped abusing your children?
Do drugs kill?
Can man save himself?
Matthew 19:25 … "Who then can be saved?" 26
But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With
men this is impossible, but with God all things are
possible."
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the
truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through Me.
Acts 2:40 And with many other words he testified
and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this
perverse generation."
1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed to yourself and to the
doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you
will save both yourself and those who hear you.
Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual
blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He
chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that
we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus
Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His
will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He
has made us accepted in the Beloved. 7 In Him we have
redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of His grace 8 which He made to
abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9 having
made known to us the mystery of His will, according to
His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,
10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He
might gather together in one all things in Christ, both
which are in heaven and which are on earth -- in Him. 11
In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being
predestined according to the purpose of Him who works
all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we
who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His
glory. 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the
word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also,
having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of
promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until
the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise
of His glory.
1 Peter 1:18 knowing that you were not
redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or
gold, from your aimless conduct received by
tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the
precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without
blemish and without spot. 20 He indeed was
foreordained before the foundation of the world,
but was manifest in these last times for you 21
who through Him believe in God, who raised Him
from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your
faith and hope are in God.
Romans 4:1What then shall we say that Abraham our
father has found according to the flesh? 2 For if
Abraham was justified by works, he has something to
boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the
Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was
accounted to him for righteousness." 4 Now to him
who works, the wages are not counted as grace but
as debt. 5 But to him who does not work but believes
on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is
accounted for righteousness, 6 just as David also
describes the blessedness of the man to whom God
imputes righteousness apart from works: 7 "Blessed
are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, And
whose sins are covered;
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved
through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the
gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should
boast.
1 Peter 1:22 Since you have purified your souls in
obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere
love of the brethren, love one another fervently
with a pure heart, 23 having been born again,
not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through
the word of God which lives and abides forever,
Romans 6:16 Do you not know that to whom you
present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that
one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin
leading to death, or of obedience leading to
righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that
though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed
from the heart that form of doctrine to which you
were delivered. 18 And having been set free from
sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the
heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men
and brethren, what shall we do?" 38 Then Peter said to
them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you
shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 "For the
promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are
afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." 40 And
with many other words he testified and exhorted them,
saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation." 41
Then those who gladly received his word were baptized;
and that day about three thousand souls were added to
them. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles'
doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in
prayers.
Can man be saved by works?
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved
through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the
gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should
boast.
James 2:24 You see then that a man is justified
by works, and not by faith only.
Galatians 2:15 "We who are Jews by nature, and
not sinners of the Gentiles, 16 "knowing that a
man is not justified by the works of the law but
by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in
Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in
Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the
works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
Galatians 3:2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you
receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the
hearing of faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in
the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?
4 Have you suffered so many things in vain -- if indeed it
was in vain? 5 Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to
you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the
works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? -- 6 just as
Abraham "believed God, and it was accounted to him for
righteousness." 7 Therefore know that only those who
are of faith are sons of Abraham.
8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the
Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham
beforehand, saying, "In you all the nations shall be
blessed." 9 So then those who are of faith are blessed
with believing Abraham. 10 For as many as are of the
works of the law are under the curse; for it is written,
"Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things
which are written in the book of the law, to do them."
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved
through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the
gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should
boast.
Titus 3:4 But when the kindness and the love of
God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by
works of righteousness which we have done, but
according to His mercy He saved us, through the
washing of regeneration and renewing of the
Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us
abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7
that having been justified by His grace we should
become heirs according to the hope of eternal
life.
Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you
have always obeyed, not as in my presence only,
but now much more in my absence, work out your
own salvation with fear and trembling;
James 2:17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have
works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, "You have faith,
and I have works." Show me your faith without your
works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You
believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the
demons believe -- and tremble! 20 But do you want to
know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when
he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that
faith was working together with his works, and by works
faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was
fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was
accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called
the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified
by works, and not by faith only.
John 14:15 " If you love Me, keep My
commandments.
Galatians 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither
circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything,
but faith working through love.
Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and
great, standing before God, and books were
opened. And another book was opened, which is
the Book of Life. And the dead were judged
according to their works, by the things which
were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up
the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades
delivered up the dead who were in them. And
they were judged, each one according to his
works.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before
the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may
receive the things done in the body, according to
what he has done, whether good or bad.
Matthew 16:27 "For the Son of Man will come in
the glory of His Father with His angels, and then
He will reward each according to his works.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved
through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the
gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should
boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in
Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared
beforehand that we should walk in them.
Acts 26:20 they should repent, turn to God, and
do works befitting repentance.
1 Peter 3:21 There is also an antitype which now
saves us – baptism
Colossians 2:11 In Him you were also circumcised
with the circumcision made without hands, by
putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by
the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in
baptism, in which you also were raised with Him
through faith in the working of God, who raised
Him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in
your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your
flesh, He has made alive together with Him,
having forgiven you all trespasses,
John 6:28 Then they said to Him, "What shall we
do, that we may work the works of God?" 29
Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the
work of God, that you believe in Him whom He
sent."
