Submit to
governing
authorities
1-7
v.
Everyone must submit
himself to the governing
authorities, for there is no
authority except that
which God has
established.
v. 1
_____
Love those
around you
v. 8-10
Let no debt remain
outstanding, except the
continuing debt to love
one another…
v. 8
“…and whatever other
commandment there may
be, are summed up in this
one rule: “Love your
neighbor as yourself.”
v. 9
“I’m sending this message to let you
know how much members of your
church have touched my life. Four
years ago, my husband and I and our
two children rented a small
apartment in your area, when we
were blessed and overwhelmed by
the birth of identical triplet boys. Our
closest relatives were over 1,000
miles away and we had no help.
The day after they came home from
the hospital, I had to get a job to pay
for diapers and formula. I took a job
waitressing at a restaurant near your
church. On that first Sunday of work,
I waited on a group of church people.
My past experience told me church
people were terrible tippers, so I
dreaded it. But to my surprise there
were no complaints even though I
was slow.
They even asked about my life and
learned of my situation with the
triplets. Each Sunday this same
group of young adults came in and I
began to look forward to serving
them. They would always ask about
my children and they lifted my
spirits. I had been confused about
God, then out of nowhere this group
of Christians entered my life and
genuinely cared.
Our first Christmas with the triplets
was soon coming and we still
couldn’t keep up with our bills. The
group came in one Sunday, but
didn’t eat. Instead, they left an
envelope on my table with A LOT of
money for me. I bought the children
some things at Toys-R-Us that night
and cried the whole time.
I just couldn’t believe it. It has been
years since I’ve seen those young
adults from your church. We have
since moved back near family. I just
wanted you to know that their love
for me resulted in me becoming a
follower of Christ, too!
I thank God they sat at my booth
that first Sunday!”
_____
Deny sinful
opportunities
So let us put aside the
deeds of darkness and
put on the
armor of light.
v. 12
…do not think about how
to gratify the desires of
the
sinful nature.
v. 13
