Which high school programs will benefit from Project Turf?
Most of the athletic programs will benefit from Project
Turf. Football, Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer and Boys’ and
Girls’ Lacrosse will realize a direct benefit, and all sports
that practice/compete inside will see some benefit, as
Football, Soccer and Lacrosse will almost always be able
to practice outside and not require indoor practice time.
The only thing that sends them indoors is lightning.
How much will turf cost? From $800,000 to $1,000,000.
Will community groups (VHPD, VHCYAA, etc) be able to use
the field? Yes. D128 programs will have priority on
field usage and we will work with all partner community
organizations to fully utilize the field without D128
incurring any additional expenses for use of the field by
a non-D128 program.

Almost all Football, Boys’ Soccer, Girls’ Soccer,
Boys’ Lacrosse and Girls’ Lacrosse practices and
contests will be scheduled on the Turf, allowing us
to maximize our use of Rust-Oleum Field.
Physical Education classes will be able to use the
Turf field.
The VHHS stadium does not have lighting
restrictions. Therefore, we will be able to have
practices and competitions on the Turf field day
and night.

The timing of this effort aligns with the District’s
capital plan, which designates the current natural
grass field for replacement in the summer of 2012.
