Preferences - Exploration
Default Libraries

Save time by setting EndNote to open your
favorite library automatically.
1. Open your
favorite library
or libraries.
2. Go to the
preferences
menu
3. Highlight the
Libraries option
4. Click on Add
Open Libraries
Changing the Displayed Fields
To add or change a displayed field:
From the Edit menu, select Preferences, Display Fields and
add or change the field in one of the columns
Downloading from your databases

Downloading and Importing requires
good filtering.


Altering Connections / Filters
If records don’t
look right when
they come in from
a database, the
problem is likely
in the connection
file (direct
connection) or
filter (import or
direct export).
Connection files have a filter + connection information
Opening the Connection Manager
1. Edit
2. Connection Files
3. Open Connection Manager
4. Highlight Connection File
5. Click Edit
Later, your most
commonly
edited files will
show up on the
menu.

Not getting
(good) results?
Missing fields
or strange
records?
Missing/strange data in records

Look at the file you are importing or the
connection log find this using edit preferences online

 You can view and edit them

Journal Term Lists
Some styles/journals prefer abbreviated
titles
 You can store up to three alternate titles
 I use one of the alternates for Call
Numbers

