PARTICIPATION IN ILLINOIS (8 & UNDER) • 352 Sets of One Goal Equipment & 240 Hockey Sticks Distributed in 2011, 1647 Equipment Sets & 670 Hockey Sticks Distributed to Date • 4 Sets of Cross Ice Dividers Distributed in 2011 • Mini Nets Offered for the First Time, 52 Distributed in 2011 • One Goal Equipment Grants, Hockey Sticks, Cross Ice Grants & Mini Net Available Again in 2012 Illinois is Still ranked #1 for the MOST One Goal Equipment Sets in the Country. AHAI Meeting June 3rd, 2012 2011-2012 Program Highlights Jr. Hawks (sponsored by Meijer) and Intermission Skates • Focused on Mite and Squirt aged players • Will add more intermission slots next season A Step aHead Concussion Education and Testing Program • First year of program offered free baseline testing to AHAI players ages 13-18 • Next season, want to focus on head injury education MinorHawks Clinic at the United Center • 60 MinorHawks participants skated in a pre-game clinic at the United Center in March, and stayed for the Blackhawks game. Illinois State High School Hockey Championships • Hosted three divisions (Red, White, Combined) at United Center • Attendance has grown over 290% since 2009 – nearly 11,000 tickets sold this year BMO HARRIS Coach and Player of the Month • Nominate online at Chicagoblackhawks.com • Entries are entered to win an autographed item each month Eddie Olczyk Award (EOA) • Purpose is to support youth hockey players and teams in Illinois, who may not have the means to play at a competitive level. • Awarded $25,000 to Illinois youth hockey players in first year.
