You need access to Desire to Learn (D2L) for
this course. Please use D2L email when
emailing me (don’t use your private ones) and
put EDU 397I Your Last Name and the
Subject in the Subject; I access these first.
Syllabus
I am amazed at the number of students who
don’t read the syllabus (although I sympathize
with the length). You should have followed the
brief orientation to the syllabus today. It may
change throughout the semester so please view
it on my electronic syllabus.
You can access my course electronic syllabus at

Group Music Integration Units
A good music teacher is aware of the
district’s curriculum and integrates that
with his/her music program.
You will work in a group to complete a
Group Music Integration Unit.
Kodaly
Gordon Method – traditional (1 and 2 and…)
Kodaly – (ta, ti ti, etc.)
We will be making practice sheets for each
other to use in future classrooms. You will
be responsible for contributing to each
worksheet.
FOR NEXT CLASS:
You need to purchase the textbooks; we will use
them in almost every class.
We will be using D2L on the MSU-B server
(only this class can get into the folder)...please
check that you can access this. Instructions are
on my electronic syllabus
(http://www.msubillings.edu/sbarfield)
I will be at a conference next Monday, so please
meet to work on your GMIU. You should decide
what your theme is, what grade level, and who
will be designing which lesson and the order in
which they will be taught. The next week (Sept.
24th) you should bring a first draft of your lesson
plans.
“I think music in itself is healing.
It’s an explosive expression of
humanity. It’s something we are
all touched by. No matter what
culture we’re from, everyone
loves music.”
Billy Joel
