Preposition
Preposition (คำบุพบท) คือ คำที่ใช้ วำงหน้ ำคำนำมหรือสรรพนำม
เพือ่ แสดงทิศทำง,ตำแหน่ ง,ที่ต้งั , ควำมสั มพันธ์ ระหว่ำงคำนำมหรือ
สรรพนำมนั้นกับคำอืน่ ๆในประโยค
Preposition มี 2 รู ปคือ
1. เป็ นคำเดียวโดดๆ เช่ น at,on,in,by และอืน่ ๆ
2. เป็ นวลี หรือกลุ่มคำ เช่ น in front of, at the top of

Preposition สำมำรถแบ่ งตำมกำรใช้ ได้ ดงั นี้
Preposition of Place คือ คำบุพบทบอกสถำนที่ ได้ แก่
1. at = ที่
1.1 ใช้ บอกตำแหน่ ง บริ เวณ หรื อจุ ดย่ อยของสถำนที่ หรื อหมำยถึง สถำนที่ใน
เหตุกำรณ์ หนึ่งทีก่ ล่ ำวถึง ได้ แก่
at home at the hospital at school at the theater
at my desk at the party at the airport at the market
1.2 ใช้ at กับบ้ ำนเลขที่ , หมู่บ้ำน , ตำบล เช่ น
His house is at 48 Ladprao Road. บ้ ำนของเขำอยู่บ้ำนเลขที่ 48 ถนนลำดพร้ ำว
1.3 at + place on a journey ( สถำนที่ตำมเส้ นทำงของกำรเดินทำง)
This train stops at Lopburi. รถไฟขบวนนีจ้ อดทีล่ พบุรี

เช่ น Gostraight on the street, then turn left at the corner. ตรงไปตำม

2. on = บน
2.1 ใช้ กบั สิ่ งที่อยู่บนพืน้ ผิว ( on a surface ) ของวัตถุหรือสถำนที่ด่ำงๆ
on the table ( บนโต๊ ะ ) on the wall ( บนผนัง ) on the book ( บนหนังสื อ )
2.2 ใช้ กบั ชื่อถนน
His office is on Silom Road. ที่ทำงำนของเขำอยู่บนถนนสี ลม
2.3 on + floor ( ชั้นของอำคำร )
on the first floor = บนชั้นที่ 1
on the second floor = บนชั้นที่ 2
on the third floor = บนชั้นที่ 3
สำนวนที่ควรทรำบ
on the beach = บนชำยหำด
on the right / left = ทำงขวำมือ / ทำงซ้ ำยมือ
on page = ที่หน้ ำ ( หนังสื อ )
on the platform = ที่ชำนชำลำสถำนีรถไฟ
on the coast = ชำยฝั่ง
on the bank of ………… = บนฝั่ง / ตลิง่ ของ + ชื่อแม่ น้ำ , ลำคลอง

3.1 เรำใช้ in เมื่อเรำพูดถึงภำยในสถำนทีน่ ้ัน โดยมีอย่ ำงน้ อย 3 ด้ ำน ล้ อมรอบสิ่ งนั้นอยู่
in a jug ( ในเหยือก ) in the cage ( ในกรง ) in the basket ( ในตะกร้ ำ )
3.2 ใช้ กบั ทิศทำง เช่ น
in the north ทำงทิศเหนือ in the south ทำงทิศใต้
in the east ทำงทิศตะวันออก in the west ทำงทิศตะวันตก
3.3 ใช้ กบั สถำนทีใ่ หญ่ ๆ ได้ แก่ เมือง จังหวัด รัฐ ประเทศ ทวีป เช่ น
in Bangkok , in London , in Texas , in America , in Asia
สำนวนทีใ่ ช้ in
in front of = ข้ ำงหน้ ำ
in a book / newspaper = ในหนังสื อ / หนังสื อพิมพ์
in the field / garden = ในทุ่งนำ / ในสวน
in the country = ในชนบท
in the middle of = ในจุดกึง่ กลำง , ตรงกลำงของ
in bed = อยู่บนเตียง

4. under = ข้ ำงใต้ ( ลักษณะที่ตรงกันพอดี ) below = ต่ำกว่ ำ ,
ข้ ำงล่ำง
over = เหนือขึน้ ไป ( ในลักษณะตรงกันพอดี ) above = สู งกว่ ำ
ทั้ง over และ above จะใช้ แสดงถึงกำรอยู่ข้ำงบนที่อยู่ไม่ ติดกับสิ่ งที่
อยู่ข้ำงล่ ำง
under มีควำมหมำยตรงกันข้ ำมกับ over

by heart = ท่ องจำได้ ขนึ้ ใจ by rote = ท่ องจำได้ ขนึ้ ใจ by means of = ด้ วยวิธี
by nature = โดยธรรมชำติ by chance = โดยบังเอิญ by and large = โดยทัว่ ๆไป
