SUMMER PROJECTS
• RC planes with different special features or any other
type of RC Aeromodels are taken as summer projects.
• Three projects were successfully completed during
summer 2009.
• The projects were Bi-fuselage RC plane, Rogallo wing
RC plane and Retractable wing RC plane.
Bi fuselage
This project dealt with fabricating an
unconventional Aero model design.
Model can be seen in fig.
Motivation for this project came from Snitch.

INSPIRATION
•
The project was inspired from parachutes.
•
To provide large lifting force, we decided to replace
normal wing by a special kind of wing made of parachute
cloth.
•
This model can be a basis of planes used in applications
involving short runway.
DETAILS
•
Rogallo-wing is a delta-shaped wing which
provides large lift to the fuselage.
•
This wing is made of any suitable fabric like
parachute cloth, miler sheet or even plastic. In
this project parachute cloth has been used.
•
The cloth is supported by four rods and the sag
given to the cloth gives lift.

INTRODUCTION
A simple Remote Controlled Plane.
Special Feature:
• Outer parts of the wing can be Folded.
• The Fuselage has good strength although it’s weight is kept
minimum.
INSPIRATION
Can be used both as a car and an airplane.
Can serve as a cheaper version of a plane car.

We aimed to make a remote controlled helicopter.

This was inspired from the real world problem, on which
major defense companies are working.
RC ORNITHOPTER
This project deals with the designing
and fabrication of flapping wing Aeromodel.
Studied, decided dimension.
Future Plan: Continued under Prof. D.
Das
COMPLETE FOLDABLE WING
This project deal with converting half foldable
wing to completely foldable wing Aero-model
Inspiration: Terraffugia
Work: Mechanism has been decided and it will
be tried on old wings.
SUMMER
2010
• We expect you to come up with some good and
innovative ideas for summers.
• One of the projects will be based on the problem
statement of Zephyr (IIT Bombay), 2010.
• A lecture series on RC Planes will be held in the
beginning of summers.
• The other projects planned for the summers are
