Project aims:
• Transfer and implementation of approaches, methods and
materials for preventing drop out to/ in Southern and Southeastern European countries.
• Good practice methods developed for the labour market
oriented productiuon schools in Austria.

“Work-based training while producing real products
for real customers for the local and regional market is
a powerful means of engaging and motivating
young people, enhancing and enabling the learning
process and preventing drop out and reintegrating
young drop outs into formal iVET.
Success rates in the production schools for young
people entering the labour market, other VET schools
and training and further education are high. “

• The production school concept : highly connected to the
requirements young people are confronted with in companies
and during job interviews.
• All workshops are connected to companies which award
contracts ( companies and privat persons as customers)
• F.e. Steyr ( Upper Austria): SKF ( Swedish bearing company)
= production and repairing of cages in the metal workshop

The contact to the HR Department is close and frequent.
• Managers of all departments spend time working with young
people in the workshops

Participants of the production school :
• do excursions to SKF and other companies (getting to know
the produktion and sales department and talking about Do´s
and Don´t´s during job interviews)
• do internships in different companies ( „the best way to
show you are the right one for the apprenticeship“)

Former participants of the production school :
• may start an apprenticeship at Bfi within IBA ( inclusive vocational training)
= alternence ( in-company-training and vocational school), supported by
training courses with social education workers
IBA apprentices are :
•

•
employed by Bfi
paid by the Upper Austrian labour market service
Trained by in-company-training ( more than 100 skilled trades)
Intention: Being taken up as an apprentice at the company of the internship
Alternative: final apprenticeship examination after three/four years at IBA
