And while we continue to push for this 2030 goal, there are many challenges and imperatives that must be dealt with, in order to achieve our goal responsibly. To overcome that inertia and avoid unintended consequences, we must now pool all of our resources and consider the whole operating culture interacting within the built environment. We must engage, co-create and enable ecosystems and public value exchange. Fortunately, we have all the tools and knowledge that we need to do this, and more. Therefore, we have made it our mission to transform how communities think of and manage their respective development resources. OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLE: 1. Sustainable Development. This is guided by the definition and basic concepts presented in 1987 in ‘Our Common Future’ also known as the Brundtland Report, by the World Commission on Environment and Development. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It contains within it two key concepts: 1. the concept of needs, in particular the essential needs of the world's poor, to which overriding priority should be given; and 2. the idea of limitations imposed by the state of technology and social organization on the environment's ability to meet present and future needs." 1. Systems Thinking and Managing all resources, including waste, as complex integral parts of our environmental, social and economical systems, rather than wicked problems to be dealt with. OUR PRIORITIES 1. Complete our Project Team for the Most Efficient Resource Use Change Management Plan 2. Communicate the Integration Imperatives for Sustainable Resource and Waste Management through an International Protocol. 3. Mission 2030 Communication and Education OUR STRENGTHS Purpose - Co-Educating on integration as a life skill. People - A growing constructive body of knowledge. Process - Our integrative and iterative approach Products - Our knowledge and collaboration on products, services and projects. OUR SYSTEMS THINKING SKILLS Listening; Critical & Creative Thinking Skills; Having a 10 Miles View; Closed Loop Thinking; Dynamic, Operational and Non-Linear; Life-Cycle, Scientific and thinking of system as a cause are all important systems Thinking Skills. The ability to think, plan, do, check/standardize and act in a ‘chaordic’ environment, where innovation starts and changes emerge. COPYRIGHT © 2011 CRI COUNCIL. As a community, we relentlessly work with others and customers to find and address the root cause, as there is no end to trying to fix the effect when working in complex systems. Similarly to the IT sector, we need to cover data, application and process together, rather than in silos in order to reach the intended goals. Real Time Data, Zero Waste Index, Global Warming Potential are all extremely important data that can be applied in most sectors and be the turning point in changing processes, governance, etc. Image Reference: Business Digest: How to Reconcile Ethics and Shareholder Logic http://www.business-digest.eu/en/2013/04/02/1888/ 19 WE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO DETAILS A Comparison Ref.: Zero Waste Practices from San Francisco and Contarina Italy, Show Transition is possible; Zero Waste Europe Board Directors & Committees Communication Monitoring Zero Waste to Landfill Legal & Regulatory GOVERNANCE Risk & Performance Best Practices & Ethics Disclosure & Transparency Real Zero Waste 700 kgs/person.yr 350 kgs/person.yr 60% incinerated = 420 kgs/person.yr 85% recycled Residuals = 50kgs/person.yr 25% slags/ashes = 105 kgs/person.yr Residuals processed through an MRBT to landfill = 25 kgs/person.yr Other advantage: Job Increase; Economic growth Integrated Process Goal Focused Solutions Evaluations Systems Thinking Integration Success Factors Custom Solutions Life Cycle Design Team Work Assessments 20 WE SEEK PREOGRESSIVE PARTNERS OUR INCOME STREAMS • Products and Services • (sales and in kind) • Partnership Contributions • Project Revenues • Donations • Joint Ventures • Custom Education • Recovery Programs • Industrial Symbiosis OUR COSTS (WORTH) • Ongoing Research and Development • Markets • Cultures • Economies • Management • Biomimicry/Biomatrix • Communication • Education • Operation • Awareness Campaign As of 2015, a value of nearly one million dollars has been invested in the Construction Resource Initiatives Council and its initiatives. As pressure grows for authorities and businesses to improve their resource efficiencies, so does the value of the work accomplished so far. Because ultimately, managing risks and remaining relevant now requires a higher level of awareness on resource systems, to synchronize and align people, processes, products, services and technologies. Thus the ability to integrate will become one of the most important cultural and business skill/quality of this century. COPYRIGHT © 2011 CRI COUNCIL. DIRECTION: The guidance to use the instruments/tools as intended for quality results 25 THE 2030 INTEGRATION DECLARATION For Safe and Sustainable Development Resource Management FINAL DRAFT - Draft 11 – February 15, 2015; Recalling that sustainable development must meet the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Thus authorities, businesses, communities and individuals alike all have important stakes in protecting life’s most basic needs: food, water and shelter. Protecting the limited resources to meet the basic present and future needs requires both a constructive organizational and operational culture in which People must have the basic needs to improve their quality of life; a healthy environment, education, health care and an occupation that ensures an adequate income. Integrating organizations helps provide them with the means and motivation to get to what matters to them in meet their higher order satisfaction needs of achievement, affiliation, encouragement and realizing their full potential. Thus, integration is imperative to overcome inertia in changing consumption, production and resource or waste management patterns. As such, the CRI Council and the adopters of this 2030 Integration Declaration are: Calling for a massive governmental and civil society integration, to provide the means and motivation necessary for rapid research and development advancement in lean1 production, creating greater value for customers using fewer resources. Declaring that we commit to following imperatives, within the sphere of our influence and capacity. Engaging internally and externally for effective and ongoing communication of the Integration Initiative related issues, impacts and best possible solutions; and Co-creating an International Integration Protocol by 2017, with rigorous attention to details in order to, at a minimum, provide the means and motivation for a safe and sustainable resiliency program, support Mission 2030 and Architecture 2030; and Enabling active collaboration among governments and civil society Integration Initiative Partners2 throughout all phases of the 2030 Integration Protocol3 project.
