Raising Pacific Success 2009 - 2013 Unitec Pacific Strategy 2010 - 2015 Goal 3: To ensure successful participation, completion and progression of Pacific students within Unitec programmes. Objectives: • To increase participation in order to reflect the demographics of the North /West Auckland region (2011- 14%, 2015-20%). • To increase the completion rates of Pacific students to equal the Unitec mainstream population. • To ensure that Pacific cultural dimensions are embedded in the student experience. • To increase the number of Pacific students progressing to higher level programmes. Pacific Centre initiatives 2009-2013 • Nakuita (Octopus) Model. (The Pacifc Unitec average success rate for the same semester was 68%. The overall Unitec average was 78%) •The students who did not commit, or withdrew from the programme had a collective course success rate of 50% for semester one 2014-2015 • Continue with current initiatives • Create relationships with other departments that currently have no connection with the Pacific Centre • Work closer with other services to help Pacific students
