1. Be as resourceful as you can



Know your campus

health center, office of the registrar, office of international student affairs, billing office, bookstore, eateries etc.



Attend orientations for new/international students



Consult/Be friends with departmental assistant(s)

2. Don’t be judgmental

 A lot of times people just do things in different ways. Be an observer. Don’t be a judge.

3. Be adaptable

 If things do not go as planned/expected, don’t waste your time being frustrated. Do something and figure out possible alternatives.

4. Get fully prepared when you have to deal with bureaucracy

 Social Security Office, phone companies, banks, DMV  Patience  Full preparation



5. Usually it’s NOT about race



You will do great!
