This presentation shows the capabilities of a System developed for the Supply Net of Water in Brussels. The starting point was with cartographic and net graphical data already captured with a standard GIS system.
The company IT System was a Siemens Mainframe with BS2000 operating system.

GIS and Net graphical data were translated to be stored in a relational data base management system. The System has a Client/Server architecture with the Server being the same IT System (Siemens). The Client is PC based with a GIS front-end . ACM SL .

The Client side is able to perform on its own the functionalities needed to implement an efficient Human Interface – Zooms – Elements selection by code – Symbolization used in the presentation an in the drawings – Plotting, etc.

Description of functionalities
In the graphical window (1) – Identification of a given pipe and presentation of management data on it.

In the graphical window(4) – Given a pipe (identified graphically or alphanumerically) find the minimum set of valves such as closing them it is guaranteed that there is no supply to it. (see next slide:) ACM SL .

In the alphanumeric window – Given an street name/ street number, find the place in the territory and make zoom on it.
