Don’t miss out on a new PhD course.
The quality of chemical measurements (analytical or other) is an
important aspect - if you are not certain about the validity of
measurements, why make them?
The course, “Statistics and measurement quality in chemistry, 4.5
hp “ covers the following concepts: Measurement errors, calibration, method validation, GLP and other official rules, experimental design and optimization, exercises with computer programs,
discussions of problems provided by participants.

AT the LIBRARY
New information search system – Summon replaces LibHub
On the 15th December Lund University libraries will launch a new
system for information called Summon, replacing the current system LibHub. LibHub will be available until the 31st of December
2011. In Summon you can search e-resources such as e-journals,
e-books and databases.
NOTE! If you have collected references and links in “MyCollection” in LibHub you must export these to a reference management system before LibHub will close down on the 31st of
December.

Använd SciFinder & Reaxys! De tunga databaserna inom kemi
och biokemi.
Förutom de allmänna sökfunktionerna är de även sökbara genom
verktyg baserade på molekyldata d.v.s. struktur, formel, CASnummer eller molekylnamn.
SciFinder är världens största kemirelaterade
databas. Det är en bred kemidatabas över
vetenskaplig litteratur på kemiområdet.
OBS! Inför första användningen måste
du registrera dig.
Reaxys är en plattform för att söka i databaserna Beilstein
(organisk/bioorganisk kemi)
och Gmelin (oorganisk kemi).
Beilstein och Gmelin samlar
och uppdaterar syntes- och
egenskapsdata från 1772 och framåt.

International Year of Chemistry
1200 Lundabor fick lära sig om mat & molekyler
på Kemicentrums matmässa.
Den 19 november fylldes universitetshuset i Lund med
drygt 1200 matglada och keminyfikna besökare för att
lära sig mer om matens innersta väsen: kemin. Besökarna fick genom
föredrag, workshops och utställningar bland annat lära sig hur man
lyckas med majonnäsen, varför choklad smälter i munnen men inte
mellan fingrarna, hur ett defekt vin kan lukta, hur man utvinner antioxidanter och vad molekylär gastronomi egentligen är.

2nd Seminar on Health Effects of the
Nordic Diet.
Biomedical Nutrition, Pure and Applied
Biochemistry, hosted this meeting on November17-18 in Lund with more than 60
participants. They belong to the three Nordic Centres of Excellence in Food, Health
and Nutrition (HELGA, MitoHealth and
SYSDIET) studying different aspects of the
Nordic diet. The meeting was opened by
Vice-Chancellor Per Eriksson.

Fabian Gyllenbergs price
Niklas Christensson has received Fabian
Gyllenbergs price from Kungliga Fysiografiska Sällskapet i Lund. The price was
given for his doctoral dissertation “Coherent Multidimensional Spectroscopy
as a Probe of System-Bath Interactions”
defended in November 2009. The work
was carried out in the division of Chemical Physics under supervision of Prof. Tõnu
Pullerits.

flyga”.
