Calling Defined
“The truth is that God calls us to himself, and
everything about us changes. This call is so decisive
that now in Christ, everything we are, everything we
do, and everything we have is invested with a special
devotion and direction to live out God’s purposes as a
response to His summons.”
(Oz Guinness)
2 Cor. 5: 17-20
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.
The old has passed away; behold the new has come.
All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us
to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
that is in Christ God was reconciling the world to
himself, not counting their trespasses against them
and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God
making his appeal through us. We implore you on
behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
Eph. 2: 8-10
For by grace you are saved through faith, and it is
not of yourselves, it is a gift from God. Not as a
result of works, that no one can boast.
We are His Workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
for good works. That the Father has prepared
beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Luke 14:5
If one of you has a child or an ox that falls into a
well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately
pull it out?”
Jesus is saying “Get your Ox out of the ditch.”
Luke 12:48
To whom much is given, much is to be
expected.
Col. 3: 22-24
Slaves, obey in everything those who are your earthly
masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers,
but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not
for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the
inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord
Christ.

1 Cor. 6 and 1 Cor. 10
• 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your
bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in
you, whom you have received from God? You are
not your own; you were bought at a
price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
• 1 Cor. 10:31- whether you eat or drink or
whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Arthur Guinness
Romans 12: 4-6
4 For
just as each of us has one body with many
members, and these members do not all have the
same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many,
form one body, and each member belongs to all
the others.
6 We
have different gifts, according to the grace
given to each of us.
Matt. 11: 29-30
Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy
laden from your work, and I WILL GIVE YOU REST.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I
am gentle and humble of heart and you will find
rest for your souls for my work is easy and my
load is light.
John 12:24
Unless a grain of wheat falls to the earth and dies,
it remains alone. But if it does die, it brings forth
much fruit.
