Chimes Prelude

Ain’t No Grave Can Hold My Body Down

Dawn of Grace Call to Worship Leader: And in the last days it shall come to pass, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,

People: And your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old shall dream dreams, and your young shall see visions.

Leader: When the Day of Pentecost had come, they were all gathered together in one place.

People: And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled the house where they were sitting. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.

* Opening Hymn No. 539 Prayer for Illumination

O Spirit of the Living God

O God, the Holy Spirit, come to us, and among us; come as the wind, and cleanse us; come as fire, and burn; come as dew, and refresh; convict, convert, and consecrate many hearts and lives to our great good and thy greater glory; and this we ask for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.

e are blessed that all guests have chosen to worship with us today. You are invited to stop by our Welcome Center in the Atrium or the table in the Narthex where we have prepared gift bags for you. Information and brochures on our church may be found at our Welcome Center. Thank you for worshipping the Lord with us today!

Church-Wide Picnic:

TODAY. All are invited to the Fellowship Hall after the 11:00 service to fill your plates. Please step aside and allow our elderly/handicapped folks and families with small children to be served first. Indoor seating is available in the hall for those who don’t care to picnic on the Parsonage lawn (across the street from the Sanctuary).

Seekers Sunday School Class

will not meet today. We will begin studying Christian Disciplines on June 15. You are welcome every Sunday at 9:45 AM in the Fellowship Hall. You will find friends, fellowship and, hopefully, a closer relationship with the Lord. Each study includes three types of questions: 1) Observation—what does it say? 2) Interpretation—what does it mean? 3) Application—how do we apply this to our lives?

Wesley Seminar Class

is studying “When Christians Get It Wrong” by Adam Hamilton. When young adults talk about the problems they have with Christianity and the church, they often name certain attitudes and behaviors they believe are practiced too often by Christians. We invite all age groups to attend and discuss the issues raised in this study. We start at 9:45 AM on Sundays in Room 224.

Kick back this Summer and join the Fresh Start Sunday School Class in Study, Fellowship and Service:

Sundays at 9:45 AM in Room 207.

Visitors and new members are always welcome

. POC: Susan Petrey (275-9258)

NOOMA

is a series that includes short films, scripture and discussion of issues that we really care about.

Fort Lee Army Band Concert in Chester:

The Kiwanis Club of Chester, along with our co sponsor, The Village News, has rescheduled our 12 th annual Fort Lee Army Band Concert on the Village Green to

7 PM on Thursday, June 12

. This year’s concert will feature a variety of music: big band, jazz, popular, country and patriotic music including service medleys. Bring lawn chairs and a picnic supper if you wish…and enjoy free lemonade and some GREAT MUSIC!

Mid-Week Bible Study Questions:

Reading Jeremiah is like reading God’s warnings for 2014 US of A. This Prophet and the way God uses Jeremiah is mind bogging and exciting. What were the charges against Jeremiah that warranted a death sentence? What kept Jeremiah from being put to death? Why was God going to allow Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylonians to keep the people of Judah captive for 70 years? Why did the priests and prophets seize Jeremiah and threaten “you must die.” Why did Jeremiah have “special privileges?” Why did the Lord side with any nation that did not serve the King of Babylon?

Sunday, September 7 Pocahontas State Park Lunch at 12:30 PM Outdoor Praise Service at 2:00 PM

Join us for worship Sunday morning at any of our three worship services. Then head to the park for a great time of food, fun, fellowship and praise. 

United Methodist Women News: UMW Reading Program

—The purpose of the UMW Reading Program is to encourage United Methodist Women to expand understanding of and participation in God’s mission; to increase sensitivity to all human beings—their needs, interests, and concerns; to encourage critical thinking about issues facing humanity today; to grow in understanding of Scripture as it relates to Christian faith in contemporary life; to enhance self-knowledge and to act from that knowledge; and to strengthen involvement in local and global Christian mission. To expand the Chester UMW Reading Program, we now have four books in circulation amongst the fellowships. Reading Program Forms are due in the UMW mailbox no later than

August 15

. Forms are available from your fellowship leader or by calling Carla Faris, 706-1638, for more information. Call Susan Petrey, 275-9258, to learn more about UMW, our three participating fellowships, and how you can become involved.
