The Grants Process – 3 main steps
1. Prepare and submit the application

If yes, sign funding agreement
2. Undertake the task/project

funding agreement

Read and understand all materials
If possible, talk to the grant maker
Prepare your own “blurb”
Have your supporting documentation
ready ie: annual report or financials, proof
of insurance, business and strategic plans
• If unsuccessful, seek feedback
• If successful, ensure the terms in the
funding agreement are reasonable
Tips for undertaking the project
• Do what you said you were going to
• Keep in touch with your allocated contact
person
• Take photos / keep records
• Think about outcomes or learnings from
the project

• Undertake all the reporting required (ask
for templates)
• Keep track of expenditure – grant funds
and own funds
• Keep track of non-financial inputs such as
volunteer time, room hire, etc…
