St Andrew's: Post-Ofsted Action Plan 3 2 1 Post-Ofsted Action Plan: Priorities 1 Strengthen leadership and management including governance to raise standards and accelerate progress in all year groups o Monitor the quality of teaching, quality of pupils work and pupil progress on a half-termly basis. o Joint lesson observation and book search with LA/LDBS/Oakthorpe school. o Establish Rapid Recovery Group to provide appropriate challenge. Post-Ofsted Action Plan: Priorities 1 Ensure teaching is consistently ‘Good/ Outstanding’ o Targeted training and individual coaching of teachers in partnership with Oakthorpe school. June 2014 LA/LDBS Review Feedback o All teaching good based on observations and scrutiny of pupils’ work and their progress data. o The quality of marking has significantly improved and some good examples of ‘peer marking’ were seen during the review. o Improvements in the quality and consistency of handwriting across the school and evidence of consistent application of handwriting and spelling policy seen during book searches. Post-Ofsted Action Plan 1 June 2014 LA/LDBS Review Feedback “Working in partnership with the leadership team from Oakthorpe, LDBS and LA advisers, the headship team has since Easter implemented a rigorous programme of monitoring and self-evaluation.” “Teaching overall is now good. In the best lessons learning was brisk, well-paced and maximised learning time”. “Teaching Assistants are now much better briefed on their role and their greater involvement in planning has enabled them to become more effective”. Post-Ofsted Action Plan: 1 o Progress data for all year groups indicates good progress and a significant improvement on the progress made in 2012-13. o Progress data for English indicates outstanding progress for Year 1 and good progress in all other year groups. o Levels of attainment in all three areas (Reading, Writing, Maths) are well above national averages. o Increase the overall KS1 APS (average point score) to 16.5 by July 2014 overall 17.7 achieved. Annual Progress by Subject 2013-14 Headlines • All year groups (Yrs 1-6) achieved expected or accelerated progress in all three areas of reading, writing and maths • In writing and maths most classes achieved accelerated progress (reading has traditionally had high attainment starting points) • In some classes all areas showed accelerated progress against the challenging targets set. Reading 2 out of 6 Writing 4 out of 6 Maths 4 out of 6 Focus will remain on developing the understanding of what pupils read particularly in KS1 Next Steps November 2014 and March 2015 the LA/LDBS will carry out further reviews Improving the quality of writing across the curriculum Handwriting and spelling to remain areas of focus during the next academic year to further embed improvements in these areas. Writing Handwriting Reviews Partnership arrangements will continue to strengthen leadership and management to secure further improvement next year. Leadership & Mgt Action Plan Targets Partnership working will continue to ensure that teaching is securely good and develop the quality of teaching to outstanding. Improved teaching quality Further work on response marking (i.e. prompts to children to improve further). New challenging attainment targets to be set for July 2015 (current Year 1 and Year 5) based on both the national average and current progress levels for these year groups.
