Who am I?

Masters of Educational Technology through UBC (2005)  I teach grade 5 using a blended environment  goal: to use variety of technology…“…making the curriculum accessible to all students….to create a variety of pathways to learning” (Hollas, Betty, 2005, Differentiated Instruction)  guiding questions: why, how, cost, when, what and which technology best supports my students’ learning 3

Why Move In this Direction?

societal changes  driving changes in learning  impacting teaching  personal pressure 4

 What is a blended learning environment?

face-to-face + computer mediated learning  wikipedia “… process of incorporating many different learning styles…”  Charles Graham : “… Blended learning systems combine face-to-face instruction with computer mediated instruction.” 5

       

Benefits I Have Noticed

engagement levels access anytime, anywhere learning transparency new pathways independent learning skills (e.g. P S ) information dissemination storage access to experts 6

     

Challenges I Have Encountered

time  classroom & personal learning  keeping links current, pages edited sufficient equipment reliable equipment technology support (everyone busy) displacement of other resources using computers in diverse ways 7
