Refrigeration Update
ASHRAE Guide for Sustainable Refrigerated Facilities
and Refrigeration Systems
Bids have been received by REF and a winner chosen
and approved by RAC, Tech. C., and BOD
Winning bidder is Massey University partnering with the
Univ. of Wisconsin
Outside co-funding commitments have been received
from UNEP (200K), NEEA (50K), AHRTI (22.5K), IIAR (5K),
and additional support is under consideration by RETA
and GCCA/WFLO
Guide will be used for New and Existing Facilities
Document will be Applicable in Countries Outside U.S.

ASHRAE "Refrigeration Commissioning Design
Guide:
Special Projects Subcommittee of Tech Council
Approved the "Refrigeration Commissioning
Design Guide" Pending Co-Funding
REF will encourage contributions by the TCs
to help develop commissioning methods and
technical procedures

Refrigeration Update
"Refrigerant Management Program (RMP) Exploratory
Ad Hoc Committee"
Organized by ASHRAE to determine the level of
participation which can be expected from stakeholders
in terms of developing and implementing an RMP
The RMP will be a mutually supported program in
which ASHRAE participates as a stakeholder
The goal of the RMP will be to minimize refrigerant
emissions throughout their life-cycle (production, use
in systems, recovery at the end of system life, and final
disposal)

REF continues to work with and thru CTTC to Identify and Develop
Resources and Implement Programs to enhance Chapter
Refrigeration Activities including:
Work with SAC to provide volunteer judges for a Sustainable
Refrigerated Design Project competition.
Work with the TCs to develop Hands-on, Low Cost Refrigeration
Projects for College Lab Classes.
Collate Refrigeration Seminar DVD
Present Seminars at ASHRAE Conferences on Refrigeration Topics
Promote and solicit applications for Milt Garland, Comfort Cooling,
and George Briley Refrigeration Awards
Submit recommendations to President Elect for 2013/2014
PAOE criteria for Chapter Refrigeration Activities
Strongly encourage RVCs to actively promote strong Chapter
participation in the recently approved "R" in ASHRAE Award
