Take a minute to read through the Contents on page
2. In your book, mark one activity that looks
interesting to you and one that you think will be
challenging. Label the activities using the following
metacognitive markers:

Flip to page 85 in your SpringBoard workbook
Using the post-it notes provided, make note of
the following:
Tasks you don’t understand
Tasks you understand a little
Tasks you understand completely
Place your completed post-its on the chart in
the classroom for discussion and clarification!
Based on your current knowledge,
write your answers to these
questions:
1) How do cultural experiences shape,
impact, or influence our identity and
perceptions?
2) How do we synthesize multiple
arguments into a cohesive
argument?


To end today’s lesson, add the definitions for
the Academic Vocabulary and Literary Terms
(from p. 2) to the vocabulary section of your
3-subject notebook.


Flip to page 441 in your SpringBoard
workbook. You will find a graphic organizer
to create a word map.
Look through your list of vocabulary words.
Create a graphic organizer like the one on p.
441, and fill it out for any of the words, your
choice. Turn it in next class for a homework
credit!
