IMAGERY AND THE FIVE SENSES

IMAGERY

Definition: t he author’s use of descriptive or figurative language to create a picture in the reader’s mind.

- Can you see/hear/feel what the author is writing?

Your task: Highlight/underline words or phrases which senses use the five to give you a personal response to the text Smells - Feel/touch

Sounds Tastes/foods - Colours/word pictures (sight) (take 15 minutes to explore the text on your own, quietly)

Write down imagery you find on your graphic organizer (don’t forget to use line numbers for reference)
