The Faculty of Engineering was established in 2006 as a result
of a the merger between Odense University College of
Engineering and University of Southern Denmark.
The faculty has research and educational activities in both
Odense and Sønderborg.

Mission
The Faculty of Engineering operates in a binding interaction
with society.
The combination of the needs of society and the academic
competences of the Faculty of Engineering leads to growth,
development and welfare through applied technical research at
the highest level combined with the education of highly
qualified and internationally orientated graduates in
engineering.

Vision
The Faculty of Engineering strives to be on the leading edge of
selected fields of research through the highest scientific quality
and by exploiting synergies in areas common to the academic
disciplines.
The Faculty of Engineering aspires to become leading in engineering

Education Model of the University of Southern Denmark.
The Faculty of Engineering places great emphasis on being active

The Engineering Education Model of the
University of Southern Denmark (DSMI)
 DSMI applies to all engineering study programs
 Through a project based and holistic approach, DSMI focuses on the development
of the students’ academic, personal and learning competences
 Students educated according to DSMI are characterized by being internationally
orientated, creative, innovative and interdisciplinary as well as business orientated.

Internationalisation
 An increasing number of highly skilled international students.
 An increasing number of the students perform a part of their study at a foreign
