Acts 2:38 “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the
gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Remission = freedom, pardon, forgiveness, liberty
Verb = to throw away or cast off
Acts 10:43 - remission = dismissal, release
Col. 2:14 “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that
was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out
of the way, nailing it to His cross”
Our sins were transferred to Jesus
He died in our place – Heb. 2:9
Our sins were nailed with
Him to that cross!
“Repent therefore, and be converted, that your sins
may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall
come from the presence of the Lord” Acts 3:19
- Blotted out = to smear out, obliterate
- Figuratively = pardon, wipe away
- “may be cancelled”

Cleanse = to make clean, purge, purify
Purged = to clear of guilt

upon us; He will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast

- Our sins are lost, destroyed,

O.T. = sins remembered each year - atonement
After sacrifice of Christ their sins were not remembered.
Heb. 10:18 “Now where remission of these is, there is

blood, even the forgiveness of sins”
Redemption = ransom in full, deliverance
Eph. 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through His
blood, the forgiveness of sins…”
