What assessments happen in Year 6?

• • • • • • All children will receive a Teacher Assessment Levels which is passed on to their High School and shared with parents.

Level 3 and below represents achievement below the nationally expected standard for most 11-year-olds. Level 4 represents achievement at the nationally expected standard for most 11-year-olds. Level 5 represents achievement above the nationally expected standard for most 11-year-olds. Level 6 represents achievement significantly above the nationally expected standard for most 11-year-olds. SATs tests designed to assess levels of knowledge, understanding and skills gained in English and Maths since entering KS2 .

Science

• • • This remains an important subject area given the opportunity for children to develop their investigative and communication and reasoning skills.

Science is only assessed through teacher assessment as with other subjects. There is no formal tests this year as part of the SATs.

Break down of SATs papers English, 3 papers –

English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling Test (GAPS)

The test will include questions that assess elements of the current National Curriculum in English. Questions will be on: • • • • Sentence grammar Punctuation Vocabulary Spelling @Stjohns_primary www.st-johns.stockport.sch.uk

Test 1- Grammar, punctuation and vocabulary.

• 45 Minutes long • 50 Marks • Short answer questions presented in order of difficulty

Test 2 – Spelling Test

• 20 marks for correctly writing 20 given words into unrelated sentences.

Paper A non calculator paper(45 mins) Paper B non calculator paper (45 mins) Mental maths (approx 25 mins) The written papers cover all the areas of maths – number, shape, space, measures, data handling and application of skills to problem solving.
