Adoption of Supplementary Planning Documents Central Lancashire Supplementary Planning Documents Their purpose is to provide guidance on relevant planning policies, particularly those in the Central Lancashire Core Strategy. They will form part of the Local Development Framework (Local Plan) for each Council. Central Lancashire Supplementary Planning Documents • Affordable Housing • Controlling the Re-Use of Employment Land • Rural Development • Access to Healthy Food • Design Guide Central Lancashire Supplementary Planning Documents • These documents have been jointly prepared by South Ribble, Chorley and Preston Councils • They support the Central Lancashire Core Strategy • Each Council has now adopted the Central Lancashire Core Strategy Central Lancashire Supplementary Planning Documents • A joint consultation process took place between 18th April to 30th May 2012 • From over 1000 organisations and individuals consulted a total of 33 representations were received • The SPDs were amended to reflect these representations where appropriate • Chorley Council adopted the versions presented today on 25th September 2012 • Preston CC plan to adopt the documents on 21 November 2012 Affordable Housing • Expands on Core Strategy Policy 7 • Supports provision of sustainable Affordable Housing across Central Lancashire • Provides guidance on and off site provision • Supports local nomination rights Controlling the re-use of Employment Premises • Develops Core Strategy Policy 10 • Applies a balanced criteria based approach to re-use • Protects and ensures an adequate supply of employment land to 2026 • Maintains and creates employment opportunities in Central Lancashire Rural Development • Provides interpretation of Core Strategy Policy 13 • Balances protection and development of the rural economy • Guidance on re-use, replacement and extension of buildings and new development in rural areas Access to Healthy Food • Supports Core Strategy Policy 23 • Integrates principles of public health and Planning • Provides guidance on the location of hot food takeaways in city/ town centres • Proposes restrictions on new hot food takeaway near schools • Encourages allotments and market gardens within new developments Design Guide • Encourages good design principles • Assesses settlements patterns and landscape character • Sets down key design principles for place making and sustainability • Explains the way developments are appraised for quality of design to improve public benefits
