Matthew 20:1-15

ROMANS 5:6-8

“At just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

GRACE

 “unmerited or undeserved favor”  a divine gift given freely to anyone without prior conditions

GRACE

 contradicts our human sense of  equality and justice Matthew 20:1-15

COSTLY GRACE

How can something free, be costly?

Grace is costly because it costs nothing.

Because it costs nothing, it costs everything.

GRACE

 asks us give up our futile attempts to gain God’s favor

GRACE

 tells us that our good works and righteous acts are nothing but filthy rags (Isa 64:6)

GRACE

 costs us what are very dear to us: our own achievements, years of service, our so-called “sacrifices”

GRACE

costs us our selves.

INVICTUS

I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul.

I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

GRACE

 takes away from under our feet the very thing which we think is God’s greatest gift to humanity: freewill

GRACE

calls for a radical

SELF-RENUNCIATION

Matthew 20:1-15

Take my life and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.

Take my moments and my days, Let them flow in endless praise.

Take my will and make it Thine, It shall be no longer mine.

Take my heart, it is Thine own, It shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my love, my Lord, I pour At Thy feet its treasure store.

Take myself and I will be Ever, only, all for Thee.
