CQR Background and Activities (I)
• CQR: Technical Committee on Quality & Reliability
• Established in 1986 as QAMC (Quality Assurance
Management Committee)
• One of the 23 Technical Committees of IEEE
Communications Society (ComSoc)
• Recertified by ComSoc in 2006 (every 3 years)*
• Holds annual international workshop, except 1996
and 2003
* 18 TCs passed the 2006 recertification; 5 TCs were placed on probation

CQR Charter
• Revised August 2006
• Focuses on and advocates worldwide
communications and reliability on behalf of, and
within, the Communications Society.
• Serves as the catalyst for global awareness and
the exchange of information relative to technical
and management-related aspects of
communications quality and reliability. This also
extends to security of the telecommunications
network.
• CQR technical subject matter includes:
I. Service Quality and Reliability
II. Network Quality and Reliability
III. Product and System Quality and Reliability

Introduction (1)
• The IEEE CQR International Workshop is held annually
with the purpose of bringing together industry and
academic experts to present and discuss
communications quality, reliability and security issues as
they relate to real world issues. The output from the
workshops adds to the community's body of knowledge
and serves to inform opinion and to assist the
development of best practice and relevant standards.

• Continuing the tradition of this series of workshops, CQR
2008 will provide an international technical forum for
experts from industry and academia to exchange ideas
and present results of ongoing research in the areas
listed below. This year, special focus will be on the
challenging issues related to the requirements, metrics,
measurement, management, and dissemination of
Communication Quality & Reliability.

Submission
• Paper should describe original work.
• The cover page should clearly indicate the complete
postal and electronic mailing addresses, as well as the
phone and fax numbers of the contact author.
• Paper submissions must be made electronically via email attachment in PDF format. Hardcopy submissions
will not be accepted.
• (We expect 70 or more submissions and 30-40
presentations.)
