About Sports :
School is a learning temple where qualitative changes of the students take
place on the process of preparing able & good citizens of our country. It is not
only to prepare the students to grasp knowledge through curricular contents
but also to provide instructions for happy and competent living within a social
order. Sri Aurobind always said “sound mind in sound body” & laid great
emphasis on physical education at school & college levels. The sports in the
present day in the need of the world, the medium of peaceful living of the
mankind & the field of promoting harmony, children participating in sports &
games will grow physically & mentally.
If physical education in properly organised & games & Sports are taught
to be played in the right sprit, the citizen will regard the nation as a team,
themselves as member of it. Their constant attempt will be to see that their
team is never defeated & if defeated, they face it with renewed determination
but will strive for victory at the cost of honour. Through physical education
and Sports activities the individual learns social qualities such as co-operation
friendship, courtesy, sympathy honest and respect for authority
etc. A society can prosper through healthy social relationship.
These qualities prove very useful to accept the realities of life &
face them like a sportsman. Without sound body & accurate
perception no intellectual & spiritual development is possible.
The body and mind are in-separable & the existence of mind &
body is interdependent. As sound mind lies in a sound body &
physical education as well as sports activities helps in the all
round development of human being, its inclusion in school
curriculum will bring the total & integrated development. It is
the high time, the educationist & authorities should pay due
importance to physical education at all stages of education.
