Transcript Bright white dough

Salt dough
Ingredients
• 2 cups flour
• 1 cup salt
• 1 cup water
You can make this using any cup, mug or pot.
Just use the same one for each measurement
and you’ll be fine.
Method
• Combine flour, salt
and water in a
mixing bowl until it
forms a dough.
• Knead on a lightly
floured surface until
a soft doughy ball
forms.
If you want a coloured dough add
food colouring to the water.
Preparation
•
•
Roll dough between two
sheets of floured
parchment paper or
cling-film. This is
because the dough is
quite sticky.
The dough is also very
fragile. The thicker you
roll it the easier it is to
work with. For younger
children keep it quite
thick.
Decoration
•
•
•
Place items on to a baking
tray lined with parchment
paper BEFORE you
decorate them
As they will be dried at a
very low temperature you
can use lots of additions
including jewels, mirrors,
beads, stamps, ink prior to
baking
Don’t forget the hanging
holes. A drinking straws is
ideal for this.
Baking
•
•
Bake finished creations
for about 3-hours at
75C. You can turn
them half-way (or
not!)
Leave to cool in the
oven.
Finishing
•
Once completely dry
you can paint and/or
varnish them then
finish with ribbon.
NB: Unused dough can be wrapped
in a sandwich bag and kept in the
fridge for up to six weeks.
