Ten x three-month
placements
and
nine x six to twelve
month placements
are now available

FAQs about applying:
• Eligibility: over 18; we prioritise people with four years’ or less
technical experience; national of, or resident in, UK or Ireland.
• Check the required and desired skills & experience lists
• You can apply for up to three placements
• Apply online before midnight on March 3 2013
• Interviews April 6/7/13/14 in London
• Pre-departure residential training course 15-21 June

We support you
• EWB-UK gives you a great pre-departure training course,
which you must attend
• You receive support from an EWB-UK placement manager
throughout
You are responsible for preparation…
• You will be responsible for agreeing project
goals and practicalities (flights, visas,
immunisations)
• Most placements require thorough research
and preparation in advance – we’re here to
help!

• Debrief and complete evaluation
• Share your experience (peers, press)
Fundraising and expenses
• Together we aim to raise £20,000 for our placements
programme 2013
• We expect each volunteer to set a personal target of £600
or £900 depending on the length of their placement.
• Watch out for fun events – or start your own – and please
everybody help!
• Before departure each volunteer receives a grant for their
main expenses.

How to apply…
Stage 1: Online Application
• Applications open from Feb 4th until midnight on March 3rd
• Visit
www.ewb-uk.org for full info and apply there
Stage 2: Interview
• Interviews on first two weekends in April
• You must attend an interview
• The interviews will be held in central
London. All interviews for your
placement will be on one the four days.

Candidates will be selected for:
• their technical suitability for the
placement
• their non-technical suitability
for the placement
• their interest in global issues
• their potential future
contribution to development
All based on evidence given at application and interview

an organisation
 Your ability to communicate
 Interest in international development
