Michelle Camilleri, Secretary General Opatija (Croatia)

Brainstorming Session Varna – September 2011 4 Groups

• • • • • • • •

CLGE: Strengths

largest group of European surveyors more involvement at European level A single voice to Europe Learning from each other’s systems Exchange of knowledge European representation for the profession European representation for the private, public and academic sector Common platform: raising awareness, exchanging experiences & helping each other

• • • • • • •

CLGE: Weaknesses

Lack of sponsors and what they get back in return Organisation is too technical for some and more cadastral surveying is needed Not professionalised Not all organisations from the same country are represented within the CLGE More countries means larger dificulties in communication and cohesion of CLGE Meetings with too many delegates becomes too formal Too many different organisations with similar objectives

• • • • • • •

CLGE: Opportunities

to create working groups of different countries with the same characteristics Invite other local associations to become members but each country will only have one vote Find out about other standardisations (eg: ISO) and CLGE to take an initiative to follow up To work together with other organisations such as ICA (International Cartographic Association) To become an integrator of our profession through Europe and to defend the interests of our profession Continue merging processes More representation in Brussels

• • • •

CLGE:Threats

Increase in fees could possible lead to loss in members Larger countries might ask to have more than one vote due to larger numbers in local members and hence this could lead to creating another body/association Global financial strategy for CLGE Budget; not enough resources for all actions or more in the future Concentration on main tasks which have to be defined; better few of quality than quantity
