Professional Standards for Teachers and Trainers in England AOC (owners) The Education and Training Foundation AAETO (owners) Expert panels (advice and insight) BIS May 2014 (funders) The Review • A key objective within the delivery plan for ETF for 2013-2014 • Three phases to the review: October 2013 to April 2014 • Working closely with teachers, trainers, employers and sector stakeholders • Survey, consultation events and in-depth interviews • Over 950 responses to the review What is the purpose of the 2014 Standards? • Set out clear expectations of effective practice in education and training • Enable teachers to identify areas for their own professional development • Support initial teacher education • Provide a national reference point that organisations can use to support the development of their staff Who are the Standards for?
