Introduction to God
Question: Who Are You?
(Describe yourself – living organism,
name, age, parents, wants, life
span… any way that describes you.)
Many answers can be given to that
question, “Who are you?” How
many answers, though, dealt with
how God sees you?
Agree or Disagree: How God sees us
is the Truth and most important.
So who is God and how can we
know what he thinks of us?
Many people have a lot of different
ideas about God. That’s why there
are so many different religions.
However, you and I have the right
information about God in the Bible.
That was the book Jesus made to
show who God is, and Jesus can be
trusted more than anybody because
he rose from the dead…
So today, we’re going to take a little
time to talk about what the Bible
says about God.
You see, in studying about God,
we’ll find out how he looks at you
and me and whether or not he is
really happy with us.
VERY IMPORTANT!
First Question:
How do you know if
there is really a God?
Look up: Psalm 14:1
Three Ways to Know there’s a God:



Works of Creation – See Romans 1:20
Conscience – See Romans 2:14-15
Bible – John 1:18 & John 5:39
The TRIUNE God

The Bible describes God as one God and three
persons – Father, Son, Holy Spirit. This
teaching is what we call the Trinity. “Tri” equals
3, like Tri-angle (3 angles) or Tri-cycle (3 wheels)
and “une” equals 1. Like uni-corn a 1 horned
horse or uni-cycle (1 wheel).
Question: Anyone know what
we say in church every week that
reminds us of our Triune God?

THE CREED
I believe in God the Father
Almighty…
I believe in Jesus Christ, his
only Son, our Lord…
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the
Lord and giver of life…
Do you know what people
who don’t believe there is a
God are called?
How about those who are
unsure that there’s a God?
Another question:
If you were God
what would you have created?
Answers may be really different on
that question. Kind of fun to think
about! Whatever the answer, the
idea that the creation would be
perfect in every way would be a
thought for those answering
seriously. You’d be right.
Everything created would be perfect.
Game:
Alternate saying all that
God has made. Game ends
when one hesitates or
repeats.
So, if your creation
turned out to be the
opposite of what
you had hoped,
what would you do
with it?
Some answers are probably along the
lines of: “We’d throw it away and
start over again.” But other answers
might have been something like,
“We’d try to fix it.”
Let’s consider what God chose…
What did God do to us
who ruined ourselves
with sin and all of God’s
creation?
How does God see you
then?
If there’s time, move on
to video lessons 2-3…
Discuss as time allows…
