Scotland is a country to the

north of England and occupies
the northern third of the island
of Great Britain.
It is bounded by the North Sea
to the east, the Atlantic Ocean

to the north and west and Irish
Sea to the southwest.

The national flag of Scotland is the cross of St. Andrew, also
known as the Saltire. It is made up of a great white cross

any country, dating back at least
to the 12th century.
However, there is a second flag
which is associated with Scotland,
the "Rampant Lion", or Royal Flag
of Scotland. It is widely used as a
second national flag.

for ‘family’) has its own
tartan (woolen material
with coloured square
designs) and on special
occasions they wear
traditional Scottish
costume which consist of
the famous ‘kilt’ (skirt) and
special accessories.

leading industry. But other industries such as iron and steel,
engineering and coal-mining are highly developed too.

(mountain valleys), wild mountains and ‘lochs’ (lakes).

Military Tattoo and the International Festival of Music and

which takes place every August
and September. This Tattoo
