Welding Shop Safety
Rules
Safe grooming
•
Wear the proper type of footwear for the trade
(leather boots, or steel toe leather boots).
Shorts are not allowed in welding shop.
•
Wear the proper type of cloths for welding
(long sleeve shirts, dark fire resistant
material).
•
Loose or ragged clothing shall be prohibited.
•
Wearing of rings, wristwatches, bracelets,
earrings, and other jewelry is prohibited.
Safe Conduct
•
When entering another class, go directly to
the teacher in charge to make your request.
•
When entering the technical class go directly
to your assigned area, and remain there till
your instructor advises you other wise.
•
Horseplay or practical jokes in any form will
not be tolerated.
•
If you are not sure what you are doing- Stop!
Look! Listen! There is no discredit in being
ignorant, but there is in being foolish.
•
At no time should tools or other materials be
left lying on the floor.
•
Use all tools and equipment as instructed.
Take better care of them than you do your
own.
•
Always keep your hands in a safe position
when working. Do not even trust yourself.
•
Never carry tools in your pockets.
•
Keep arrangement of tools in storage area as
originally planned.
•
At no time should you handle a project that
does not belong to you.
•
If you do not plan to use a machine, stay away
from it.
•
Never make any adjustments to tools or
machines unless you are familiar with the
procedures.
•
Keep all isles and work areas clear.
•
Report all damaged tools or equipment to your
instructor immediately.
•
Safety glasses must be worn at all times.
•
Report all accidents and injuries to your
instructor.
•
Do not leave the shop area at any time
without the permission of your instructor.
•
The correct way is the only safe way.
Stop! Think! Proceed carefully!
Safety is no accident!
