ITLL • The Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory (ITLL).

• 3200 students use the ITLL every year.

• The ITLL contains various Rooms, Resources and Services.

• Need for a Scheduling System

The Problem • The ITLL has Diverse Scheduling Needs • Recurring and Single Events • Need Web Based Scheduling System • E-mail Confirmation • Secure Access • Needs to be able to create and remove stuff?

High Level Design USER INTERFACE WEB BROWSER APPLICATION HTML/JAVA APPLET DATABASE MICROSOFT ACCESS

User Interface • Web Browser • Login • User Pages – Rooms, Resources, Services – Search – Search Results/Reserve – View/Reserve

Main/View page • Allows User to view availability for a Room, Resource or Service.

• Allows user to choose time to reserve a particular RRS based on the calendar.

• Provides a link to a search page.

Search • Visual - Using Calendar • Search by Specific Criteria – ie date/time ranges, room size, etc.

Search Results • Provide a results list • Allows user to return to the main page to perform the reservation.

Confirmation Page • Lists all RRS’s that have been selected for reservation. • Allows the user to return to the previous page to make changes if needed.

• Final step in reservation process.

• Sends e-mail confirmation to user and/or administrator if applicable.

User Software Requirements • Netscape 4.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater.

SchedMan Requirements • Microsoft Access Database.

• All SchedMan software must reside on the ITLL Windows NT server.
