The Female
Reproductive system
Unique Facts About
The Reproductive
System
● The vagina has a pH of 4.5 (same acidity as beer), created
by an acid producing bacteria called lactobacillus. Thanks
to the bacteria, nasty bugs aren’t able to enter.
● The hymen, which used to be a measure of a woman’s
virginity (it covers the vaginal opening, and if it was
unbroken, a woman was a virgin), can tear through many
activities, not involving sex.
● The legendary “G-Spot” that men claim to find on a
woman during sex has never been proved to exist.
● Period protection has come a long way. Before the pad,
women used papyrus (Ancient Egypt), and lint wrapped
around wood (Ancient Greece) to absorb bleeding.
● Disney produced a film in 1946 called “The Story of
Menstruation” for health classes. It gave advice and tips
for how to get through your period.
How menstruation works
● Its one of the mysterious things about girls on the planettheir period. We are here to clear up all the wonder and
give you some valuable information.
The Side
effects:
● Bipolar emotions.
○ Progesterone and Estrogen drop creating mood swings!
○ Girls have been known to flip out on one word, or cry
tears of joy over a simple act during this time. It’s
called PMS
● Bad cramps
● Week long blood loss
How Babies are made
What Happens during
Sex?
● As sex starts, vasocongestion causes vaginal lubrication to
get started. Things get hot.
● As sex goes on, a peak is reached. The vagina contracts in
a rhythm as fast as every 8/10 of a second. The male
reproductive unit propels 40+ million sperm into the
vagina (as fast as 10 mph).
● The contractions of the vagina, along with the lubrication,
help guide the sperm up into the cervix. While in the
uterus, the sperm swims along until it finds the mature
egg.
The sperm has a rough journey, though...

Eat yogurt, drink cranberry juice, eat garlic.
Treat infections right away with meds or prescribed lotions
Make sure you have enough lube during sex.
Keep things dry. Wear cotton, don’t keep anything wet on
for extended periods of time.
Proper hygiene: change out tampons and pads regularly
(and use them in the first place)
Wash the whole area with warm water. If you choose to
use soap, make sure that none is left in the vagina when
you’re done.
Wash up after sex
Visit your gynecologist regularly!
Close Interaction with other
Body Systems
● The most important effects are those that are exerted
on bone and skeletal muscle. Through a woman’s
reproductive years, her skeletal and muscular systems
grow stronger. The skeleton becomes taller, heavier,
denser, and the pelvis is shaped to accommodate birth.
● Specific endocrine organs in the body such as the
hypothalamus and the anterior pituitary gland help
orchestrate most all reproductive functions. Without
these parts, women would forever remain with a
childlike reproductive system.
● The female reproductive system also comes in close
interaction with the nervous system by responding to
sexual stimuli.
