Syrian Crisis
Four years of suffering
It’s four years since the conflict in Syria
erupted and today it’s the world’s
largest humanitarian crisis.
SYRIA
More than 200,000 people have been
killed and 11.5 million have fled their
homes – equivalent to half the
country’s population.ha
As people continue to seek a safe
place to escape from the fighting,
Tearfund’s partners are providing food,
help with shelter, clothing, stoves and
hygiene goods. Eventually, we hope to
help refugees return to their homes.
Hiba’s story
When Sleiman died in a bomb blast in the Syrian city of Homs, his wife Hiba
was left to bring up their young son Jamal.
Their living conditions deteriorated and hunger became a big issue as they
only had one meal a day.
Since being linked up with a Tearfund partner, we have been supplying Hiba
and Jamal with food.
Gradually, they are regaining their strength and vitality.

“The LORD is my light
and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the
stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be
afraid?”
Psalm 27:1 (NIV)
