Action Verbs
An action verb is a word that shows action.

In a sentence, the action verb tells what the
subject of a sentence does.

Helping Verbs
Sometimes a verb may be more than one word.

The main verb tells what the subject does or is.

The helping verb helps the main verb show an
action.

Linking Verbs
A linking verb does not show action. It
connects the subject to a noun or an
adjective in the predicate.
The verb be is a common linking verb.
The day is sunny.
Winter is almost here.

Our long walk was interesting.
