MATHEMATICS ASSESSMENT
• Both exams (Math 30-1 and 30-2) were built to the
published blueprint and matched the program of
studies.
• Teachers and post- secondary representatives, as
well as internal staff (Program of Study and
Resources, French Language Education
Services, Assessment) validated the exam. (Math 302 was all raw items, so it had additional validation
committees)
MATHEMATICS - ASSESSMENT
• The % of students writing Math 30-1 and Math 30-2 was approximately
the same as the % writing Pure Math 30 and Applied Math 30,
respectively. Since Math 30-2 does have greater post-secondary
acceptance, it is hoped that the population will shift (i.e., the hope is
that the students who Math 30-2 is intended for will move into this
stream)
• Standards Confirmation was held. Benchmarks of performance for the
acceptable standard and the standard of excellence were
established. These results will be used to inform future diploma
examination development .
