• Uniforms • Blue shorts/pants with yellow or light blue shirts • • Belts must be worn in 3 rd grade!

ONLY Franklin Academy sweatshirts, sweaters, and jackets can be worn if cold. (Put names on all items!) • Conferences • If you would like to schedule a conference, please do not hesitate to send me an email. We will have a minimum of 2 conferences for the school year.

PROCEDURES •Agendas and Binders: Please view daily and initial! Look for papers daily.

•Please sign and return any papers on the “Sign and Return” side. Keep the rest.  • Bathroom – Our class has a bathroom that is shared with a Kindergarten class. Students are allowed to go to the bathroom during independent work or in emergency situations. If your child needs to use the restroom frequently for medical reasons, please send me a doctor’s note.

• Pick Up – buses @2:10; car riders and aftercare @2:15. 2 nd Dismissal to the cafeteria at 2:45.

-Behavior – clips can move up and down. -Tickets are earned for great behavior. -When a student has 20 tickets they’re allowed to go to the Treasure chest where they can win a coupon or prize.

Homework

Although we do have a “no homework” policy, the girls may need to do any of the following: • unfinished classwork • work sent home for reinforcement • Spelling Words and Vocabulary words to be studied at home • Website activities – Study Island, Discovery Education, and Think Central Franklin Academy does not require “busy” homework. 

READING

•Read, read, read!! •Students should be reading at home for a minimum of 30 minutes daily.

•Instruction-whole group and small flexible groups.

•Mix of text with emphasis on content area and non-fiction text.

•Benchmark ,Weekly, and mid-year, and End of Year assessments •Spelling and Vocabulary words - will go home weekly. Check the website on a regular basis!

MATH

Go Math! Series •Practice, practice, practice Math facts!

•More critical thinking •Xtra math Please do this 3- 4 times a week or more! •Multiplication – do flash cards at home.

Social Studies

The United States Its Regions and Neighbors • Students will have access to their textbooks through Connect Ed.

Science Fusion Series

Investigation Process, Earth and Stars, Matter, Energy Forms, Plants, Animals

Discovery Benchmark Assessment Tests:

- Tests were completed in both Reading and Math.

- Scores will be sent home with students.

FSA Testing:

GRADES

•GRADING SCALE --- 90% - 100% = A --- 80% - 89% = B --- 70% - 79% = C --- 60% - 69% = D --- 59% & below=F -Grade letters will not shown on powerschools or report cards.

-Grades include tests, quizzes, classwork, and projects. – Grades and other information can be found in Power Schools.
