Learn to live sustainably at Luther College!
Here are some tips for how to get started….
Check out the Sustainability website* to
learn about all of the ways to get involved,
and the events on campus. Make sure to
join the email list (on the left sidebar of
the Sustainability main page*.)
Ride a bike! You can bring
one from home, register it
online , and lock it to a bike
rack near your res hall. Luther
provides bike storage in the
winter, too. If you don’t have
a bike or helmet or helmet,
you can check out a groovy
yellow one at the Library
Circulation Desk!
Recycle!
There are bins
inside and/or outside all
residence halls for paper and
plastic. If you have cans or
bottles with an Iowa stamp
made of plastic, aluminum, or
glass, make sure to put them
in a“redeemables” bin to
support Habit for Humanity!
Go outdoors! Explore the beautiful trails
on campus and in Decorah. There are trails
for walking, running, road-biking, and
mountain-biking. Make sure to visit the
Backyard Wilderness Pursuits office (by the
entrance to the Union) and check out
outdoors equipment, like camping gear, use
a canoe or a kayak, and more!
Need a ride home for break? Sign up for a Break Shuttle, or add
your name to the Luther RideShare website. Both are less
expensive than having someone come to pick you up or having a car
on campus. If you do have a car and have an extra seat, put your
name on the RideShare website, too! You can ask your extra
passenger to pitch in for gas and help you save money, too! Visit
luther.edu/sustainability/transportation.
