Close of meeting Management committee • Core group: six members • List of ad hoc volunteers Holiday child care pilot Approval process • Proposal taken to VCMag (VC, DVCs, D van Eeden, E Uliana, G Kruger, J MacNamara, H Amoore) - strongly supported. • Supported by Head of Educare Centre, Marilyn Petersen Summary of proposal • Pilot be run over the December/January school holidays 2006/2007. • UCT underwrites percentage of the running for the pilot project, and if this facility continues, for the next 2 years. • UCT makes available an appropriate venue for the pilot facility, and if the project is considered a success, appropriate venue facilities in the future. • Governance and management: – A parent body will be established to oversee the governance of the operation. The parent body will report to the Educare Committee of Council. – A Coordinator to plan and oversee operations. The Coordinator will report to the Head of the Educare Centre. Details • Period: December/January school holidays (closed for the week between Christmas and New Year) • Venue: Woolsack ‘White House’ and grounds • Age group: school going • Age group splits: – – – – 6-8 years 9-12 years 12-14 years 15+? • Max no. children: 45 • Hours: 07h30 – 17h30 Details cont • Fee:R250 per week • Minimum booking: one week • Staffing: – Experienced Coordinator to plan and oversee facility – One Supervisor per class – Student helpers where necessary • What is supplied: – – – – Materials (crafts etc) Snacks (twice per day) – parents to supply lunch and drinks Access to swimming pool, UCT sports facilities and grounds Special activities run by UCT staff and student volunteers • Extra costs: – Special outings (Baxter, etc) – Special activities (external or UCT staff, students) Parent commitment • Enrol your children! • Join the Management Committee and/or assist in an ad hoc way • Give of your skills, encourage friends/colleagues to participate in fun development of our children • Fees to be deducted – Dec fees in November salary – Jan fees in Dec salary
