ACHIEVEMENTS
 2006: First to blend FAME in Diesel
 Argos Oil: First to offer E85 in the market
 North Sea Group: for years using waste Biofuels
 Pioneer supplying sustainable bio-jet kerosene
 Partner with NGOs to help Ethanol Mill in SP to achieve Bonsucro
certification

AMBITION
Set the Standard
As a pioneer in the large-scale marketing and
distribution of biofuels in the Benelux countries,
Argos North Sea Group has set the standard
All-round supplier of
energy
Transform from a supplier of (bio) oil products to
an all-round supplier of energy in the widest sense
of the word
Supplier of lowemission energy
Become the supplier of low-emission energy with
the aim to reduce significantly the emission of
harmful substances

VISION
10
APPROACH
Source different raw
materials
Collaborate with NGOs
and Governments
Traceability of raw
materials
Promote development of
second generation biofuels
21-7-2015
To prevent a food-versus-fuel discussion, boost local
initiatives and guarantee a well-balanced supply of bio
To promote initiatives and secure sustainability
To make ourselves accountable and promote production
on a global scale. Since 2011, ISCC certified,
Biofuels mainly from residual waste streams. Source as
soon as there is enough supply.

TRANSITION PERIOD (NEXT 20 YEARS)
 Development of new low carbon fuels
 Improving vehicle and infrastructure technology
 Development of a more efficient mobility and logistics system
 Focus on fuels with enough potential to deliver scale and volume
 No single energy carrier alone will be sufficient
 Uncertainties regarding long term success of different technology options.

FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
21-7-2015
20
FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
 In the transition period (next 20 years) : plenty of opportunities to offer
innovative (low carbon) transport and energy technologies
 Brazil and The Netherlands well positioned to benefit
 Brazil to continue developing its sustainable biomass resources
 Port of Rotterdam to be one of the main hub for bioenergy products
 The process of certifying such “invisible commodity” needs to be credible
 Certification is the most concrete way to prove sustainability of Biofuels
 Working with NGOs to give transparency and gain consumers trust
21-7-2015
21
APPROACH
 Identify best-in-class biofuels suppliers (sustainability)
 Leverage their sustainability credentials + Certification
 First Assessment based on standard questionnaire
 Assess existing sustainability projects, initiatives, etc
 Interview relevant managers
 Pre-Audit
 Tackle non-compliances
